About Us
CBJC, a 501C-3 non-profit organization, is committed to developing audiences and nurturing institutions and individuals with Jazz and other cultural expressions including dance, theater, and poetry. Our purpose is to provide a forum for cultural exchanges through building partnerships to connect African American musicians and their community.
CBJC recognizes the contributions of artists and their roles in perpetuating culture while promoting the dignity of a people. We strive to develop programs that are affordable, accessible, and attractive to people of all ages. Founded in 1999, CBJC is a collective of patrons, entertainment venues, faith-based institutions, community organizations, and musicians. The founders were community activists, educators, and musicians concerned with the preservation of jazz and the culture of Central Brooklyn.
